November 2015 SCARC meeting---note special time and place

On Thursday November 5, 2015, SCARC presents: “An Evening With Glenn Johnson, WØGJ”. Glenn is one of the top DXpeditioners in the world today. He has been part of some of the most difficult and rarest amateur radio expeditions of the past 15 years! Most recently, Glenn was the Co-Team Leader of the highly successful and #1 Most-Wanted, K1N Navassa Island expedition, which occurred this past February. WØGJ's presentations will begin at 7:00.

• "2015 K1N Navassa DXpedition” Many years of planning were required to bring this world class event and contacts to amateur radio operators around the world.

• “Is 3db worth a divorce?” Improving station performance without breaking the bank.

Glenn is an Iowa State University Alum (Forestry/Ecology) and has been a practicing orthopedic surgeon for over 35 years. He works for the Mayo Clinic specializing in adult reconstruction.

PowerFilm Solar will host the event. A brief walking tour of the factory will begin at 6:30pm for anyone interested in seeing the facility. Glenn’s presentations will begin at 7pm sharp.

October 2015 SCARC meeting note special loacation

The next meeting of the Story County Amateur Radio Club will be Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 7:30 pm.
This special meeting will be held at he EMA office in the basement of the Story County Administration Building, 900 6th St. in Nevada.
Keith Morgan, Story County Emergency Management Agency Coordinator will be our featured speaker and tour guide. He will discuss how Story County Emergency Management promotes emergency preparedness, assists with the coordination of disaster response and recovery operations and encourages mitigation efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents of Story County, before, during, and after a disaster or large scale emergency. Keith will also discuss the vital role that Amateur Radio plays in that mission and give a guided tour of the EMA office and Emergency Operation Center, or EOC.

September 2015 SCARC Meeting

The next meeting of the Story County Amateur Radio Club will be at 7:30 pm, Thursday, September 3, 2015. The program for the September SCARC meeting will be show and tell. Bring something interesting and tell us all about it (treasure found at a hamfest, interesting QSL or photo, etc). Show and Tell will be preceded by a discussion of SCARC plans for the coming year and suggestions for meeting programs. The meeting will be in Conference Room North A-B next to Bessie Meyers Auditorium on the first floor of Mary Greeley Medical Center (MGMC).

The closest parking is in the lot north of the ER and ambulance garage. Enter through the North Door where MGMC meets McFarland Clinic.
