October 2 2025 SCARC Meeting: WI0JK on the Moon -- Small-Station EME with 75 Watts and a Yagi

The Story County Amateur Radio Club will meet on Thursday, October 2, at 7:00 PM with an in-person gathering at the Ames Airport, in the Main Terminal large classroom, along with an online meeting via Microsoft Teams.

In WI0JK on the Moon, Bill Boswell will share how he built a small Earth-Moon-Earth station that successfully bounced signals off the Moon using just 75 watts, a Yagi on a tripod, and weak-signal software. From early radio tinkering to a driveway moonbounce contact 460,000 miles round trip, this project blends technical challenge with the wonder that keeps amateur radio alive.

Due to a scheduling issue, we are moving the October SCARC meeting to the Ames Airport, Main Terminal, large classroom. Parking will be right in front of the main terminal building and Matt Nelson KB0MGQ and Clint Miller K0GR plan to be there at 6:30 p.m. to assist people finding where to go.
